Ambrose Ridge is a three-story building with 84 total units, comprised of 52 one-bedroom units at 588 square feet and 32 two-bedroom units at 836 square feet. Additionally, there are 40 carports for residents to use. Each apartment includes a refrigerator, stove, garbage disposal, and central air conditioning. Other amenities include balconies, pull cords in each unit, laundry rooms on each floor, cable TV hookup, trash and mailbox rooms within the building. Extra storage space within the building is available to residents as well. The building itself has an elevator as well as two spacious community rooms, a salon, craft room, exercise room and a library. There are also regularly scheduled resident activities, which include bingo, movie nights, potlucks, resident birthday parties, game nights, association meetings and community BBQs on the property’s outdoor patio.
Ambrose Ridge was originally built and placed in service in 1997 but had grown old and tired, needing extensive rehabilitation. Renovations that occurred in 2017 included exterior site work with new asphalt, roofing, siding, landscaping, and windows and doors. Other improvements included upgrades to the HVAC systems, elevators and mechanicals. The common area rooms and office received new flooring, lighting, paint and furnishings. Residential units received new cabinetry, lighting, flooring, and energy-star appliances.
MHT Housing, Inc. applied for Low Income Housing Tax Credits through the Michigan State Housing Development Authority and a 223(f) HUD-insured mortgage.
