Jennings Senior Living, providing affordable housing for seniors 55 and older, is the result of an adaptive re-use renovation of the historic Jennings Hospital Building located at 7815 E Jefferson Avenue in Detroit, Michigan. This four-story brick structure was renovated to create 46 units, with a unit mix of 36 two-bedroom and 10 one-bedroom units. The community is marketed towards individuals with incomes at or below 60% AMI.
The Jennings Hospital Building is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places as a noted feature of the West Village District, and received National Historic Credits. Due to the historical nature of the renovation, procedures were put in place to preserve the original elements of the exterior and interior of the building. Renovations included replacing the HVAC system, updating mechanical systems, replacing roofing, windows, lighting, drywall, flooring and carpeting. Within each apartment installations included flooring, cabinetry, drywall, appliances and carpeting.
It is important to note that Jennings Senior Living is located on the same campus as the former St. John’s Hospital. The buildings that make up this campus have undergone a complete renovation and are now functioning as the Riverview Health and Rehab Center. The Riverview Campus currently provides health services, a nursing home facility, and is home to Oakland University’s accelerated nursing program. The residents at Jennings Senior Living apartments will have the opportunity to be direct neighbors with the Riverview Health and Rehab Center and all of the services it provides.
We're always looking for new investors who are as excited as we are to see communities improve.
